MR. KENNY MILBERN MILES

Graveside services for Mr. Kenneth Milbern Miles will begin at 2:30 PM Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverends Barry Fulton and Kyle Naylor officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. The Miles family will receive guests from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM in the church prior to graveside services. Kenneth Milbern Miles, known affectionately as Kenny, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Miles of the Damascus community on December 26, 1959. He was the oldest of 3 children and graduated from West Lauderdale High School in 1978. He attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Ken was known as a simple country man, who loved his family and living off the land. He enjoyed the little things in life. Kenny was the owner and operator of a sawmill. He was a hardworking man, from constructing houses to rebuilding failed engines on tractors and trucks, he was always working on something and fixing broken items. He was a jack of all trades. Kenny loved hunting, fishing and anything else that involved being outdoors. On most days you could find him outside working in his outfit of choice, overalls. Ken was a lover of all animals, except cows and pigs. He rescued innumerable strays throughout the years, including one of his favorites, a camel named Louie. He adored his Belgium horses, Roy, Belle, and Little Bit and could often be found riding in a wagon pulled by them. He was a quiet man of few words, until he got to know you. Kenny was a loving and kind son, brother, uncle and friend. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His love for the simple country life made him a humble and down-to-earth man. Kenneth is survived by his significant other of 20 years, Billie Jean Herrington; mother, LaRue Daniels Miles; sister, Sherry (Ronald) Robinson; brother, Ron (Barbara) Miles; four nephews, Ronald Paul (Lauren) Robinson, Daniel (Laura) Robinson, Luke (Ashleigh) Miles, Lane (Ashley) Miles; three great-nieces, Kristen Miles, Sadie Robinson and Lilah Miles; four great-nephews, Eli Robinson, Nic Miles, Maverick Miles and Ridge Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Milbern Miles; grandparents, Alec & Etta Miles and Ralston Brooks & Sadie Daniels; his aunt and uncles; and his close friend, John Beckham. Pallbearers will include Pat Blalock, Jonah Haskins, Lane Miles, Luke Miles, Robby Miles, and Ronald Paul Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers are Leon Jolly, Daniel Robinson, and Larry Salter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
