MR. JERRY WAYNE SMITH

Obituary for Jerry Wayne Smith, October 18, 1947 - January 10, 2025 Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Wayne Smith will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Ben McDaniel, Rev. David Jay, and Chris Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Beatline Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 PM - 8 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at John E. Stephens Chapel. Mr. Smith, 77, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Medical Center in Meridian. He lived his whole life in Newton and Neshoba Counties and graduated from Union High School in 1966, where he joined and served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. Jerry worked different jobs throughout his life that included driving a milk truck & bread truck, PGI drilling and ended his career as a log truck driver for David L. Vance logging where he retired. Jerry was a member of Beatline Baptist Church and attended County Line Baptist Church with his family. He LOVED the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and running dogs as much as possible. His motto was, I can hurt sitting in the chair in the house or I can hurt in the boat or deer stand, so might as well be hunting or fishing. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, Dovie and Hyacinth Smith. Survivors include his wife of 49 years and 5 months, LaVone Smith. Sister Brenda Gough (Otis) Sons, Wayne Smith (Kim), Billy Clyde Kilpatrick (Karen), "honorary son" Danny Cain (Sierra). Daughters, Renee Truhett (Barry), Robin Smith (Randy) & Julie Goul (John) Grandchildren, Chris Kilpatrick (Nicole), Kelly Carter (Shannon), Katie Crawford, Justin Kilpatrick, Meredith Keady, Dylan Smith, Savanna Thompson (Lance) & Aly Ellingburg (Dalton) Great Grandchildren, Elijah Kilpatrick, Isaiah Kilpatrick, Lexi Crawford, Parker Kilpatrick & Natalie Carter Beloved Dog, Friskie Jerry was loved by many, as shown, especially in his last days here on earth through texts, calls, visits and prayers. He will be missed greatly. Pallbearers: Brandon Gray, Michael Gray, Tyler Pierce, Scott McCarver, Tyler Spears, and Josh Story.
