MRS. DEBORAH "DEBBIE" NICHOLSON HODGES

Deborah “Debbie” Nicholson Hodges 08.08.1955 - 10.18.2024 Funeral services for Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Nicholson Hodges will be held at 10 AM Monday, October 21, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Damon Williams officiating. Interment will be in East Lawn City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 PM – 8 PM Sunday, October 20, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel. Debbie passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 18th. Debbie was born at Neshoba General Hospital and a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. She was a lot of fun in her younger years. She will be remembered for her quick wit and the love she had for her family and her MSU Bulldawgs. Debbie was tough and would go toe to toe with anyone if need be. It was always good to have her in your corner. She graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1973 and continued her education at Mississippi State University where she graduated with honors and received a bachelor of science degree in business in 1977. While at MSU, Debbie was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She was the only female selected by Proctor and Gamble in 1977 to go to Jacksonville, Florida to be a sales representative for them. Brother David Sellers married William and Debbie at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, MS on November 25th 1987. Years ago, when Debbie was able, she loved working in the yard and was always redoing a piece of furniture or remodeling a room in her house. She loved visiting the Smoky Mountains and often went with her sister Dawn. Debbie retired from the State of Mississippi in 2017. However, Debbie will more than likely be remembered for her tenacity and dedication to the people she served at the Medicaid office as area supervisor. She is proceeded in death by her parents Jean Adkison and David Nicholson. Her paternal grandparents Rodney R. and Gladys Bell Nicholson whom she loved and missed dearly. Maternal grandparents Fred and Lena Pearle McEachin. She is also reunited with her niece and nephew, Drew and Meredith Baker. Debbie is survived by her husband of almost 37 years, William Hodges, daughter Brooke Wells of Philadelphia, MS (Wes), Brittany Williams of Louisville, MS (Damon), sisters Dawn Stewart of Fulton, MS (Allen), Leah Chancey of Birmingham, AL (Heath), Lisa Goldman of Meridian, MS (Sam), and brothers Ricky Nicholson of Meridian, MS (Dana) and Allen Nicholson of Toomsuba, MS. Grandchildren Charlie Wells, Anna Wells, Logan Wells, Liam and Lydia Williams. The family would like to personally thank Jo Ann Rounsaville and her team at Quality Hospice Care (Kelsey Sanderford, Debbie’s primary nurse) for their outstanding care and love they showed Debbie and her family.
